Import from GenBank a.k.a NCBI Search and Import

Details about this feature can be found in the main Genome Compiler user guide:

-See section 1.8 for NCBI nucleotide search and import.

  • In SnapGene you can import a sequence from GenBank by specifying the accession number. In order to open the “Import from GenBank” dialogue (Figure 3.4.5.1) you should open the “File” drop down menu and select “Import from GenBank” (Figure 3.4.5.2).

In Genome Compiler you can open an NCBI nucleotide database search tab by pressing the NCBI icon on the top right of the materials box (Figure). You may start searching NCBI by typing an accession number or any other gene name or relevant query into the search bar and press the search button

  • In Genome Compiler you can open an NCBI nucleotide database search tab by pressing the NCBI icon on the top right of the materials box (Figure 3.4.5.3). You may start searching using NCBI by typing an accession number or any other gene name or relevant query into the search bar and press the search button (Figure 3.4.5.4). NCBI nucleotide database search results will appear in the current tab (Figure 3.4.5.5) where you may open each result as well as filter by clicking the table fields and choosing the values you want to see (Figure 3.4.5.6). Moreover, Genome Compiler offers a direct sequence import option by clicking “Import” at the left column of the requested sequence in the NCBI search table. This sequence will be directed to your library. For more information regarding the NCBI nucleotide search and import see section 1.8.
